Meal Plans

What meal plan can I purchase?

That depends on where you live and your class year. All students residing in a residence hall (Cumberland, Garber, North, Pearce, Sanford, Weaver, and West) are required to purchase a meal plan. Freshmen may select either the Carte Blanche or the Green & Gold Meal Plan. Upperclassmen may select the Carte Blanche, Green & Gold Meal Plan, or the Monarch Meal Plan. Students residing in Cape Fear Commons Apartments, McLean, The Greek Houses, or off campus are not required to purchase a meal plan and may purchase a residential meal plan or an apartment/ commuter meal plan.

How does the Carte Blanche meal plan work?

Not just for big eaters! The Carte Blanche meal plan is like having mom's kitchen right outside your residence hall. Grab what you want, when you want it or just go to socialize. The Carte Blanche meal plan gives you unlimited access to Green & Gold Dining Hall. This includes meals, snacks or to visit with friends. Just swipe your student ID at the door to identify that you are a Carte Blanche meal plan member.

When does the meal plan begin?

Meal Plans start on the first day the residence halls are open for each semester (August 11, 2016 for fall 2016; January 7, 2017 for spring 2017).

When does the meal plan end?

Meal plans end for the fall 2016 semester on Saturday, December 17, 2016 and for the spring 2017 semester on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Unused Monarch Dollars associated with the Meal Plan will roll over from the fall to spring semester but not from the spring to fall semester (expire at the end of the spring semester on Saturday, May 6, 2017). Monarch Dollars added to your account do not expire and carry over each semester as long as you remain enrolled at the University.

When do I receive my meals?

The meal week runs from Sunday morning (12:00 am) to Saturday night (11:59 pm). Unused meals on the Green & Gold and Monarch plans do not carry forward to the next week. Students on the Carte Blanche meal plan will always have meals available (from residence hall opening through residence hall closing).

Can I carry meals over to the next week or next semester?

Meals on the Carte Blanche, Green & Gold, or Monarch Plans cannot be carried over to the next week. The weekly meal cycle starts every Sunday at 12:00 am.

Meals on the Block Meal Plans are distributed at the beginning of the semester, and expire at the end of the semester. Note: Unused block meals do not roll over from semester to semester.

Will my Monarch Dollars carry over to the next semester?

Unused Monarch Dollars associated with the Meal Plan will roll over from the fall to spring semester but not from the spring to fall semester (expire at the end of the spring semester on Saturday, May 6, 2017). Monarch Dollars added to your account do not expire and carry over each semester as long as you remain enrolled at the University.

Can I change my meal plan?

Yes, meal plan changes may be made during the first two weeks of each semester. Visit the Business Office to change your plan or fill out this online form.

Can I treat a friend to a meal?

You may treat a friend to a meal at the Green & Gold Dining Hall with one of your free guest meals, Monarch Dollars, cash, or credit card. Meals and Meal Plans are non-transferable. Meal Plans are designed for one student alone and cannot be shared.

What are AFO/FPO/DPO addresses?

APO and FPO addresses allow the postal service to efficiently deliver mail to active duty military members serving overseas. When the mail arrives at the APO or FPO, the staff will send the mail onto the proper division of the military to which the addressee belongs. The division then delivers the mail to the individual.

How do I increase password security?

Your password should be at least 8 characters that include upper and lower case characters, numbers, and symbols. You should always use a unique password for each website you use; that way, if one account gets compromised, the rest are safe. Other ways to ensure the security of your password include:

    • If passwords must be written down on a piece of paper, store the paper in  a secure place and destroy it when it is no longer needed.

    • Never share passwords with anyone.

    • Change passwords immediately if they may have been compromised.

    • Be careful about where passwords are saved on computers. Some dialog boxes present an option to save or remember a password. Selecting this option poses a potential security threat.

How do I use variants?

Have your food your way! Choose from our variant options to customize your meal exactly how you want it. Please note any charges that might be associated with adding additional variants to your meal.

What is a CVV?

The Card Validation Code is a 3 digit number set that uniquely identifies your credit card.

Visa/Mastercard and Discover Users

Flip your card over and look at the signature box. You should see either the entire 16-digit credit card number or just the last four digits followed by a special 3-digit code. This 3-digit code is your Card Security Code.

American Express Credit Card Users
Look for the 4-digit code printed on the front of your card just above and to the right of your main credit card number. This 4-digit code is your Card Identification Number (CID). The CID is the four-digit code printed just above the Account Number.
